During the juco mid-year signing period, utsa inked 4 players, 3 from Cali. The staff is returning to the West Coast, but this time Northern Cali for a cornerback prospect.
Glenn Deary, a 6'0" 180lb corner from Yuba JC, recently talked with UTSA coaches and was given some good news. He caught their eye on film and now he's waiting to see if the final word is a go for an offer.
UTSA is the first FBS program to show interest. Deary currently has a bunch of offers from smaller programs.
The 'Runners are new to him, but Deary has family in Texas and they've been pulling for him to possibly land on the UTSA radar. Family from his fathers side reside in the Houston area.
A few months back, Glen had been in contact with UTSA, but the staff was stocked with commitments at the cornerback position. Those commitments remain, but we all know the changes and departures that have affected the depth and talent at the corner spot. Much to the advantage of Deary who is very eager to hear if UTSA will offer.
Deary runs in the 4.5-4.6 range and is more of a loose corner. From time to time he'll play press coverage. He can flip sides of the field and even lines up defending the slot. He shows good instincts and has a nose for making a play on the ball. Playing with a cushion means breaking on the ball must be dead on. Deary shows good awareness and timing on his breaks.
He's made it clear that if the green light comes for an offer, with no questions asked, he would commit immediately.
