Balfour Looking To Breakthrough

In the UTSA offense, the tight end position has to be productive. From the emergence of Cole Hubble last season to the promise that David Morgan showed before injury. A big athletic body who can run up the seam is key.

Local prospect Alex Balfour (6'4" 215lbs 4.8) of SA Clark has gone somewhat under recruited but more schools are starting to ask as word gets out about the tight end prospect.

LSU has been in contact. Baylor, UTSA and Rice are also sending letters and coaches to talk to get a glimpse. Coaching staffs want to see more of the young man in action and the UTSA program has caught his eye.

"I like it (UTSA) a lot. I've been to their campus a few times. I went to their junior day and I really like the campus," said Balfour.

Along with his nice size, Balfour is doing what he can to get bigger. Recently in the weight room he bench pressed 280lbs showing he's added strength.

The Cougars didn't necessarily utilize Balfour that much for his pass catching abilities last season. He was mainly used as a blocking TE. However, to utilize his skill set, the offense has been throwing the ball more and in multiple sets Balfour is now being split wide as a flex TE.

As he awaits his first offer, Alex is already making a note of what he hopes a program can offer.

"I want to find a program that fits me right. The style of play, location, academics and the overall feel of when i visit," said Balfour.
