3 Star DE Blowing Up

Good size, speed and athleticism make this prospect a coveted defensive end. He already sports seven offers and other marquis programs are in hot pursuit.

Recently at a Nike camp, Silvester Hayes measured in at 6'3" 214lbs and turned in a 4.7 40 time. His measurables and speed are just some of the reasons why he already has plenty of options.

Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Colorado State, Nevada, Iowa, SMU & Texas Tech have all offered. UTSA, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Baylor are others who have picked up interest recently.

South Oak Cliff just started spring practice this past week so many more college coaches are scheduled to come by and see the Scout.com 3 Star DE who is ranked the 60th best DE in the country.

UTSA D-line Coach Eric Roark stopped by this week and Hayes took notice.

"He came by when I was doing my drills. I couldn't say too much because I was going through practice. He wanted me to contact him or call him. He was talking to my coach, how good of an athlete I was. He was saying he might offer me, get to know me a little more and meet me in person. I'm pretty sure he's going to offer. UTSA is showing strong interest in me, and they're close to offering," said Hayes.

Out of his current offers, the Red Raiders stand out. Of those showing interest, Texas A&M has caught his eye.

So where does UTSA fit in his pecking order?

"I heard a couple things about UTSA. I heard they have a good coaching staff. I didn't know too much about them until my coach started talking to me about them. From what I've heard it seems like a really decent program. I would consider it, I would most definitely think about it if they offered me."

Hayes, is looking for an opportunity to contribute and play early and stay close to home.

"I want to be able to go home for the holidays. I think if I go to far, I'll get homesick," said Hayes.

The All State Honorable Mention defensive end is keeping his options open and is aiming for a decision late into the season or completely afterwards.

(Analysis)

Has good size. Will naturally have to add more size and weight. His speed and athleticism creates havoc on the edge. He explodes off the line and can get around most offensive lineman. He can play both the run and pass, but considers himself better at the rush.
