Setting Up A Visit

Recently, UTSA targeted an Arkansas State commit by extending an offer. Now a former Arkansas State commit is strongly considering in taking a visit to 'Runner County. We got the scoop.

Some ripples were sent through the UTSA recruiting landscape when Verkedric Vaughns gave an early commit to the Red Wolves. It's hasn't been a full two weeks since he decided to re-open his recruitment and weigh all of his options. He's still very interested in Arkansas State, but one of the options he wants to explore more is UTSA.

"I felt like I made an early decision. I want to experience going on visits. Arkansas State is still in the hunt. I just want to experience my visits before I shut my recruiting down. I really want to go down there (UTSA) on August 9th with my friend for an unofficial. It's C-USA football, the city of San Antonio interests me and I just want to check it out," said Vaughns.

The staff has been keeping close tabs on Vaughns and will continue to recruit the 5'10" 185lb cornerback. Over the summer he's also also clocked a 4.5 in the 40.

Including UTSA and Arkansas State, Vaughns has 10 other offers: Colorado State, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, North Texas, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Old Dominion, Rice and Louisiana-Monroe.

Out of this entire group, there is one program that has not offered and that's Baylor. An offer from the Big XII program could really sway his recruitment. Verkedric is very open that he thinks highly of the Bears and would like to go there. The Baylor staff has had contact, but no offer has been extended.

The Mesquite Poteet target is currently a 3-Star prospect and ranks as the 88th best corner prospect in the Nation by our Recruiting Analysts.
