Harrison Emerges As Playmaker

WR Kenny Harrison has cemented himself as one of the explosive players on the UTSA roster.

Outside of Eric Soza's first touchdown in program history, wide receiver Kenny Harrison may own the most exciting play in UTSA history. It was in the second half vs Texas State when Harrison returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown.

"When the ball comes my way, I just try to make plays," said Harrison.

That is what Harrison did Saturday vs Oklahoma State. His 62 yard punt return, that nearly went for a touchdown, re-ignited the Alamodome.

"It really wasn't much different than what we saw on film from the Mississippi State game," Harrison said of the Cowboys. "We just had to go execute what we do."

Harrison was one of the most dangerous returners in the WAC last season. But so far in 2013, he hasn't had many opportunities for return.

"I'm still building," said Harrison. "I just try to make plays."

More than his punt return, Harrison made some plays as a wide receiver on Saturday.

"We really spread the field," Harrison said. "We got the ball to our backs and it opened some things up a little bit and I got a couple of balls thrown my way." Harrison led the receiving corps with four catches for 61 yards, including a long 35 yard reception.

"We all try to contribute," said Harrison. "There aren't any favorites, everybody just does their part. It's as simple as that."

Saturday's game vs Oklahoma State was significant as it was the best defense Harrison and the rest of the offense has seen.

"We were not really worried about them, it was about what we do. We moved the ball pretty good but we still fell a little short," said Harrison.

Despite falling to the Cowboys, Harrison knows the experience will help him and the team moving forward.

"They (Oklahoma St) were a great defense and that's going to help us going into Conference USA play," said Harrison. "Our offense is going to see where we need to make adjustments. We'll be back on the field ready to go for Arizona next week."
