Standing 6'1", weighing 170lbs and being clocked routinely with sub 4.5 speed, running a 4.44 earlier this spring, Keivon Ramsey
has already gotten the attention of some big time programs.
The Rockets are off to a 1-1 start and just suffered a tough loss to another state power, Steele HS, 51-34, and Keivon knows that the Rockets still have some work to do.
"We still gotta a lot to work on. I haven't been stellar on defense, no one has, it's been a team effort. I've been doing enough, but I really need to a step up," said Ramsey.
Not your typical response and especially from a kid who's just finished playing the second game of his junior season. Incorporate that with his physical tools and you can see why Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, BYU, Cal and UTSA have all shown strong interest and even discussed an offer.
Ramsey is doing what he can to keep his focus on the field for the time being, but was able to take an unofficial visit to UTSA this weekend and catch the 'Runners in action.
"I took an unofficial to UTSA to see the Oklahoma State game. The crowd was really into it. After the game, we got to go into the locker room. I talked with Coach Eliano, he stands out, I really like him. I really enjoyed it," said Ramsey.
Safeties Coach Perry Eliano is recruiting Keivon and the 'Runners have already talked about him being in line for an offer. UTSA isn't the only program though, Baylor and Texas Tech also appear on the verge of offering too.
Ramsey is still waiting on his first offer and isn't in any rush to make a decision anytime soon. When looking at all the programs, location or staying close to home doesn't really matter, he simply wants the chance to come in and compete for immediate playing time.
Programs, including UTSA, haven't told Keivon whether he's being recruited as a cornerback or safety. It could vary on the level of program, but with his size, speed and movement in his hips, he very well could project as a corner.
It's still a few months away, but when we release our Alamo City Top 2015 list, look for Ramsey to be near or at the top.

The Judson Rockets continue to be one of the areas power programs and year after year you can count on 2-3 players being division one targets. Next in line is arguably the area's top DB for 2015 and he recently took a visit to UTSA.
