UTSA Offers First

College Station is known for being home to the Texas A&M Aggies. But this prospect from that area has jumped onto UTSA's radar in a big way and is now considering an offer.

A&M Consolidated WR Kerry Thomas was offered a scholarship Wednesday night.

"I'm really interested in them (UTSA)," Thomas told IRS. "It's a school I'm looking forward in going to. It's a new program and it's close to home."

Thomas, who also plays basketball, has been an under-recruited prospect so far, so much so that he was possibly looking to be a grey shirt candidate when he first talked to the staff on Tuesday night.

But on Wednesday night, the staff had even better news and a scholarship was offered after his film was reviewed.

"I was so excited," Thomas said about the offer. "I had went to their camp this summer. I did pretty good there. I had talked to Coach Coker. I'm really interested in them."

At 6'1" and 190lbs, Thomas is being targeted as a WR. He's got good hands, runs good routes, and has 4.65-40 speed.

"I would say I'm pretty diverse," said Thomas. "I can go deep or get you the quick 6-7 yards. I really want to get my blocking down. If I can be a physical receiver, I can get everything else down."

UTSA is Thomas' first offer, although he is getting seeing from New Mexico, Southern Miss, ACU, Midwestern State.

Thomas has scheduled an official visit to UTSA on Jan 17 and could very well commit.

"I feel like my decision will be made pretty soon," said Thomas.
