Recruiting Weekend Recap

Recruiting Weekend Recap

InsideRunnerSports checks in with each of the official visitors following their official visits this weekend.

Down the stretch they come.

There is just over two weeks left until National Signing Day and UTSA is actively recruiting numerous targets. This past weekend, UTSA hosted five official visitors.

IRS Staff caught up with each of the visitors to recap their visits:

DT Kevin Strong – Commit:
Strong has been a solid verbal commit to UTSA since his decision back in August. He reports his official visit went well.

"Everything went great," said Strong. "I love everything about UTSA and can't wait to go back."

WR Kerry Thomas– Commit:
Thomas' status is the most intriguing. With official two visits tentatively scheduled at other schools in the coming weeks, it seems as though Thomas may shut down his recruitment altogether after what he describes as a great visit.

"I loved it," said Thomas. "I think this is the place where I'm going to be at. Before I left I had a one on one meeting. I'm a solid UTSA commit, I'm not even sure if I'm going to go on my other visits, I think I'm going stay with UTSA."

DL Cody Casey– Target:
A Texas State commit since November, sources confirm to IRS staff that his is strongly considering his offer from UTSA.

DB Nathaniel Gaines– Target:
Gaines has UTSA in his top choices. It will be between UTSA, Purdue, Utah and SMU. While Gaines enjoyed his visit, he has not made a decision.

"It went well, I enjoyed it," said Gaines.

DL Alec Divalerio– Prospect:
Although Divalerio remains a prospect for UTSA, IRS cannot confirm he was offered scholarship this weekend.

Tentatively, UTSA has schedule official visits for the next two weekends as the recruiting period for the 2014 class begins to come to a close. Recommended Stories
