PWO Down To Final Two

This "Preferred" Walk-On Offensive Lineman has just about weighed all the options he possibly can. With one last visit left, we have the latest on where UTSA stands.

For the 2014 class, scholarship numbers have been small and tight since the beginning. By our unofficial count, with 36 seniors (on scholarship) set to graduate after next season, Head Coach Larry Coker and his staff have been very diligent in extending scholarship offers.

One position that had slim to no offers available was the interior of the offensive line. That, however, did not stop the coaching staff from going after it's number one interior target, La Porte's Michael Leagan.

Over the last two weeks, Coker, Offensive Coordinator Kevin Brown, and area Recruiting Coach Charlie Reeve, have either stopped by for in person visits or have been in touch with Leagan over the phone.

It's not every day that an Offensive Coordinator visits a "preferred" walk-on, much less a Head Coach. The staff's persistence has really rubbed off on Leagan, his family, and his La Porte Coaches. UTSA is doing everything possible to convince Leagan that he will have a scholarship next year when the numbers free up after his walk-on year. When it's all said and done, no matter his choice, do not expect Leagan to go back and forth with any decisions. Once it's made and announced, he considers his recruitment 100% over. If he chooses the C-USA school, coaches have already informed him that they'll bring him in for a visit after NSD.

Standing in at 6'3" 285lbs, Leagan projects as a center or guard at the D1 level. Within the next four days, UTSA could very well have a key piece in place for its 2015 class.
