Still Under The Radar

Sometimes it takes a little longer for college programs to mine through all the talent in the Lone Star state. This rising SA O-lineman is one who has still gone un-noticed, but things could be changing soon.

Daishawn Dixon moved to San Antonio for his sophomore year from Colorado Springs. He landed at Taft High School and until recently, his released highlight tape and dominating performance at the San Antonio FBU camp, people and college programs had no idea who he was.

He stands almost 6'5" and is approaching 290lbs in weight. His junior season at Taft was his first playing offensive tackle. The Raiders went 2-8 and as usually is the case, prospects on bad teams tend to get overlooked. Just ask Kolin and Kaleb Hill from Clemens.

Unbelievably, Dixon still does not have an offer. UTSA has been the program to show the most interest, although contact has been less of late. Dixon did make it to UTSA's Junior Day back in February and he continues to get correspondence from the 'Runners.

"I went to UTSA's junior day. I liked it a lot. It was a neat experience," said Dixon.

He continues to prepare for his senior season and is staying busy in the gym getting stronger, and on the field working on his technique. He also has plans to attend various camps on the circuit, which will undoubtedly help him get more attention.

You can't compare the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the Springs to South Texas, but Dixon likes the Alamo City and that could bode well for the hometown Roadrunners if they pick up interest in the offensive tackle.

"I like being in the city instead of being an open place, it's kind of cool," said Dixon.

At the next level Daishawn is looking to study business and is all about his education. He would also like the opportunity to fight and compete for playing time early on.

Dixon isn't completely sure, but he might make it down to the Alamodome for UTSA's spring game on Saturday. Along with UTSA, the Texas State staff is said to be stopping by Taft High School to also get a glimpse of what could be the best O-lineman in the Alamo City for 2015.
