QB Earns Offer

QB Earns Offer

UTSA is poised to take two quarterbacks during the 2015 recruiting cycle. With one commit already in, staff continues to look for another recruit at that position. This Houston area dual-threat QB was targeted after performing well at UTSA's camp.

Less than 24 hours after working at UTSA's Camp on Wednesday, Kingwood Park QB Jaylon Henderson was offered by the Roadrunner Staff.

"It's been a very humbling day," Henderson said Thursday afternoon about his offer. "I'm just very excited."

Henderson worked with UTSA coaches at Wednesday's camp in Katy. Early Thursday morning, he was offered over the phone.

"I wanted to get out there and show them my arm a little bit, show them my mechanics," said Henderson. "They told me I performed well and gave me the offer."

Henderson said he liked being able to work with the UTSA coaches.

"It was great," Henderson said about the Katy Camp. "Anytime I can go get coached by some of the best coaches, it's always a great feeling."

UTSA is no stranger to Henderson as the staff began recruiting him last fall. In fact, Henderson knows a little more about UTSA than most.

"Back in the fall I went to a lot of their games," said Henderson. "I really like the multiple offense they run. It really fits me well for the type of quarterback that I am. I feel like I'd fit just fine in the offense."

Henderson is 6'2" 190lb dual-threat QB who possesses good speed.

"I use my arm and my legs as a weapon," said Henderson. "I can run the ball or I can pass. I can be a pocket-passer at times, but if I need to leave the pocket and scramble I'm able to do that."

In addition to UTSA, Henderson holds current offers from Eastern Washington, Southeastern Louisiana, McNeese, Tennessee State, New Mexico, and Texas State.

Henderson says he would like to make his decision by mid-July so that he has time to focus on his upcoming high school season. He is also planning on camping at Texas A&M and Colorado.
