Going Campin'

Going Campin'

Prospects and potential UTSA targets will be ascending on the Alamodome Wednesday morning in hopes of showing off their talent to the staff.

The UTSA Coaching Staff will be starting up the camp circuit for the final time this year beginning on Wednesday and ending Thursday afternoon in a quick, but extensive two day circuit.

First up are the underclassmen, anyone who is entering grades 9-11 will be showcasing their skills and talent. Check-in is set for 8am, with the camp to begin at roughly 8:30. The camp will run approximately through noon.

Last year, InsideRunnerSports was the only outlet on hand and saw 280 underclassmen turn out. It caught everyone by surprise, including the staff. As if the long line out of the Alamodome service tunnel wasn't proof enough of why the camp didn't start until after 9 a.m. The walk-up turnout was incredible.

Camps like this are pivotal for prospects as the staff begins to focus in on the 2016 class and are searching to see who has a legitimate interest in the program. Dalton Banks (Alamo Heights/2015) and Brandon Douglass (Rice Commit/2015) are just a few of the kids who turned out last year who eventually got a UTSA offer. Other talent on hand were the likes of Trevor Speights (Arizona Commit/2016), Justin Gamble (Texas State Commit/2015), and plenty more.

With the success of UTSA's first year in Conference USA, and the brand of Roadrunner football taking off with plenty of games on national and regional television, look for just as big a turnout as last years. We'll have our eyes open and ears peeled for any prospects who may become targets or offer candidates.
