Commit Tracker: Quan Shorts
Furquan Shorts WR Over five months ago, Shorts started things off for UTSA's 2015 recruiting class in committing at junior day. He was the earliest commitment in the history of the program and he started a recruiting blaze that has helped the Coaching Staff reel in 15 commits, and it's not even August yet. Since then, Furquan (Quan) has seen his stock take off and is on the verge of being a national recruit. The 6'2", now 195lb, 4.5 speedster has gotten multiple offers from power conference schools: Colorado, Kansas, Utah, and BYU are his bigger offers with North Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana Tech rounding out the rest. He's also attended camps at Texas and Texas A&M where he raised some eye brows with his camp performance. The Aggie's Coaching Staff has stayed in contact with Shorts and just this past week asked about his grades and transcript. As for UTSA, they knew getting a talent of Quan's nature was not going to deter other programs from coming along and knocking at the door. They continue to let him know that he's a top priority and want him to be sure he eventually suits up in the orange and blue. "I talk to Coach Reeve all the time. I like the fact that UTSA is coming up. I want to be a part of that. They talked to me a lot about that their losing a lot of seniors and when we come expect to play and be ready. UTSA is still my number one college. I'm a solid commitment, but my recruitment is open," said Shorts. Quan says he's done with the camp circuits and any other visits for the summer. He wants to take his official visit after the season and now he's getting locked into his senior year with Atascocita. He and his high school teammates start two a days on August 11th.
