UTSA Head Coach Larry Coker
"It's good to be back. It was a good day for us. Guys have been around and have picked up where they left off. It wasn't like starting fresh. That was great to see. We're bigger, stronger, and faster. We know each other a little bit more. It was a really good first day."
On trying to keep everyone fresh
"We'll be a little chippy I'm sure. The thing I was talking to them about was this: we don't have pads on. Make sure you stay up. When we first started here, guys would be diving at ankles without pads. Just stay up, we're looking for technique here and breaking on the ball and running after the ball and run after the catch and those type of things. It was really a good day for that."
On having so many seniors
"It feels great this year. Next year, I don't know if it will feel that great. We do have a lot of leadership and a lot of good players. If we don't do well, it's not because we don't have good players because I feel like we really do and they want to win and do what we ask them to do."
On practicing on campus
"Having a lighted practice field has been huge. The location too, we don't have to spend all of this driving back and forth. It takes a lot out of the kids."
On the health of the team
"The training staff has done a great job. I think we're a healthy football team right now. They'll be some bumps and bruises, we know that. Hopefully everybody will be healthy when we go to Houston."
On practice schedule
"We'll alternate two a days, you can't have successive two a days. When we do have two a days, each practice will be a little shorter. But our first few days we'll be in shorts and will be one a day practices."
On the quarterbacks
"I was really impressed with two guys, I thought they did a good job. Of course, from Tucker I expect it, but the younger guys I thought they did a nice job too. Timing was good and Coach Brown has done a great job working with those guys. We've got some young, talented kids. I was really impressed with Austin. I think he's really taken a step up as far as his leadership and abilities.
