Keeping Up with Kam

For three seasons, WR Kam Jones has been the biggest offensive weapon UTSA has had. Entering his senior campaign, Jones talks about fall camp and the expectations that await the team.

Kam Jones has been Mr. UTSA for the Roadrunner offense. From catching passes, jet sweeps, direct snaps, and even kick off returns, there isn't much UTSA hasn't asked Jones to do.

As a junior in 2013, Jones had his best season as a Roadrunner that saw him rack up 1,079 all purpose yards (302 rush, 345 receiving, and 432 kick return).

Now as Jones enters his final season as a Roadrunner, he talks with IRS about the upcoming season.

On Expectations for the Season
"It's been a long five years for me. I'm just taking it day by day and having fun with everything I do and hopefully live up to my dream and make it to the next level."

On This Being His Last Fall Camp
"It's kind of bittersweet. It's a grind with two a days, everybody knows that. But at the same time I have dreams of playing on the next level so I have to do everything that I possibly can. It's all basically mental for me now. I know all of the physical stuff is a part of it too but the main thing is the mental part. I can't wait for the season to start and when it does, I'll go day by day."

On Facing Houston
"It's a really exciting feeling knowing that it's my last year. Going out with a bang like this is pretty exciting. Not to mention Coach Jeffery was our WRs coach last year and Coach Bush is over there, our former QB Eric Soza is over there, this game is kind of big for us. We've got all of those guys for there that played with us and coached us with. It's going to be a big game."

On Being Nominated to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List
"It's pretty cool but I can't let that get to my head. I'm here to play football. My talents speaks for itself. I have to back it up now. I just can't see that and think "oh I'm on the watch list." I'll go out there and just continue to do my best."

On Expectations for the Season
"It's team first. If everybody does everything for the team, everyone will get their exposure. It's all team. Yes I want to do good for myself as well but it's team first. Team first, I second."
