After a tough first half, UTSA made a furious comeback in the second half.
It was definitely a tale of two halfs for UTSA on Saturday afternoon in the Convocation Center.
In the first stanza, Louisiana Tech used a suffocating defense and red hot shooting to build a 25 point lead.
The lead ballooned to as much as 27 points as the second half begun. Spurred by a high energy defense, UTSA used a 15-0 run to make things extremely close in the second half.
Following two super athletic blocked shots by Phillip Jones, UTSA was definitely posed to make the game even closer. At the nine minute mark, UTSA cut the lead to nine points and had an opportunity to cut it to seven. But a turnover and a made La Tech three pointer stopped the Roadrunner momentum.
Keon Lewis led UTSA with 24 points, he scored 22 of those in the second half to lead the rally. His backcourt mate Devon Agusi added 14 points.
After shooting just 34% from the field in the first half, UTSA scored 40 second half points on 50% shooting.
